After
completing a BA degree in Art Education at the University of Mississippi,
Paula Payne continued her studies in graduate school. She also attended
art classes at the University of Memphis and Memphis College of Art.
She taught graphic design in their adult vocational program. She
was a medical illustrator with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital before
becoming an illustrator and graphic artist with Memphis Light, Gas and
Water.
Twenty-five years after starting
her utility career, she retired as Vice President in 1996 and moved to
Pensacola, Florida. Since her retirement, she has focused on painting.
Her artwork has two faces. Her "Beach Mamas" are in retail in eight
states while her "more serious side" is represented in local galleries. |
