When European explorers first set foot on the shores of Perdido Key in 1693, they were undoubtedly dreaming of discovering vast quantities of material wealth--namely, gold and silver.

Instead, they soon realized that our beautiful Island was the real treasure: a natural paradise lined with miles of unspoiled beaches; bays; estuaries; wetlands; and abundant native sea life and wildlife. The area was, until then, the secret of gulf coast Native Americans--Perdido Key's first inhabitants.

Chances are you have heard of us by word of mouth, for THE KEY, so named by the early Spanish, is still a difficult place to find on the map.

A narrow strip of snow white beaches and crystal blue waters, we are located in the Northwest Panhandle of Florida where we share our habitat with the natural plant and wildlife that include the osprey, dolphin, and loggerhead turtle . . . THE KEY is also home to the yearly migration of the "Northern Snowbirds," as well as to a year round community sheltered among her bayous and bays.

THE KEY is a long-hidden retreat that offers many activities such as sport fishing, deep-sea and fresh water fishing, sunbathing, surfing, golf, sailing, motor boating, camping, and just plain relaxing in a place famous for its casual and relaxed atmosphere.
